The Centre for Child Rights and Business (The Centre) has created a resource hub to share updates and resources on coronavirus-related issues impacting factories, workers and children in Asia.
As businesses and their suppliers respond to challenges related to the pandemic, parent workers and their children are also impacted. COVID-19 has disrupted education and childcare, separated families, caused family illness and has resulted in loss or reduction of household income. Many families have been plunged deeper into poverty and are struggling to cope, which will ultimately effect production lines.
The Centre is tracking the impacts of COVID-19 on factories, workers and their families gathering feedback using ongoing interviews, online surveys and via our teams working in our project countries in Asia. As of July, 2021, we have reached out to close to a 150 factories, 700 workers and 126 children.
We continue to develop targeted responses and adapt our programmes to support companies, workers and families through COVID-19.
