The Project Manager India supports the Vice President of Services & Products (Asia) in expanding The Centre’s engagement with global and local brands in India. This role ensures a local presence, oversees timely and high-quality project implementation and reporting, delivers and organises training, leads research and assessment work, and engages with key stakeholders.
This role is a full-time post.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
The position includes but is not limited to the following specific tasks:
Manage and implement projects in India to guarantee the smooth implementation of the projects, including:
Prepare work plans and submit project-related reports for clients (e.g. progress reports, baseline/end line assessment reports, impact reports, etc.) and for internal The Centre (e.g. KPIs, project status updates).
Liaise with stakeholders in India, such as buyers (brands and retailers), supplying factories, plantations, and refineries, external consultants or implementing partners or local collaborators, community-based organisations and community leaders, etc., to ensure quality and timely project execution.
Conduct and facilitate training/capacity building/workshop as required by the project.
Lead research works (impact assessment, risks/needs assessment) under the supervision and guidance of the Director of Service & Product (Asia) and/or the Director of Research.
Lead the rapid assessment of child labour remediation and case management as required by the client under the supervision and guidance of the Director of Service & Product (Asia) and/or the Director of Global Child Labour Remediation.
Build capacity and control the work quality of external consultants/implementing partners/local collaborators throughout the duration of projects.
Ensure regular reviews and adjustments are made based on operational matters to ensure optimum results. In a timely manner, bring all challenges to the attention of the Director of Services & Products (Asia) and propose solutions and alternative strategies for achieving results.
Contribute to the creation and sharing of knowledge by summarising and documenting results, lessons learned and good practices from the implementation of the project.
Regularly update The Centre’s India factsheet and conduct continuous research on child rights and related legal provisions.
Provide local logistic support for events and visits.
Support business development, e.g. exploring cooperation opportunities with local social organisations and related service providers, supporting proposal development, etc.
Participate in identifying and connecting with relevant partners, including local governmental agencies, sectoral associations, international and national NGOs, government entities, educational institutions, and commercial service providers and trainers.
Participate and represent The Centre in events, conferences, and meetings as decided in cooperation with the Director of Services & Products (Asia).
Regular calls with The Centre’s colleagues in India, regular check-ins with Director of Services & Products (Asia).
Require traveling from time to time (mostly domestic).
Perform other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
University degree or higher in social science, business development or business management.
A minimum 5 years of proven experience in a similar role with international exposure is a MUST.
Experience in conducting social audits/assessments is strongly preferred.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; strong and proven skills as a trainer and facilitator are preferred.
Good command of both verbal and written English and Hindi; knowledge of other South Asian languages is a plus.
Strong research and analytical skills.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Highly trustworthy and capable of handling highly sensitive and confidential information.
Solid problem-solving and team management abilities
Good computer skills, Microsoft Office etc
