Job Title: Project Manager, Sabah

The role of the Project Manager, Sabah, is to support The Centre with the expansion and growth towards global and local brands in Sabah by maintaining local presence, assuring timely project implementation and reporting with quality, delivering & organising trainings, leading the research and assessment work, and performing networking with key stakeholders of The Centre.
This role is a full-time post.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
The position includes, but is not limited to, the following specific tasks:
1. Manage and implement projects in Sabah to guarantee the smooth implementation of the projects, including:
prepare work plans and submit project-related reports for clients (e.g., progress reports, baseline/endline assessment reports, impact reports) and for internal the centre (e.g. kpis, project status updates).
liaise with stakeholders in sabah, such as buyers (brands and retailers), supplying factories, plantations and refineries, external consultants or implementing partners or local collaborators, community-based organisations and community leaders, etc., to ensure quality and timely project execution.
conduct and facilitate training/capacity building/workshop as required by the project.
lead research works (impact assessment, risks/needs assessment) under the supervision and guidance of vp service & product (asia) and/or director of research.
build capacity and control the work quality of external consultants/implementing partners/local collaborators throughout the duration of projects.
ensure regular reviews and adjustments are made based on operational matters to ensure optimum results. bring all challenges to the attention of the vp services & products (asia) in a timely manner and propose solutions and alternative strategies for achieving results.
contribute to the creation and sharing of knowledge by summarising and documenting results, lessons learned and good practices from the implementation of the project.
2. Support child labour remediation-related work led by The Centre’s Director of Global Child Labour Remediation, such as:
Conduct on-site rapid assessments and case analyses.
Support to develop remediation plans.
Monitor planned actions and assess children’s needs, situations, strengths, and support networks, and help them adjust to changes and challenges in their lives.
Keep in close contact with different stakeholders, including children, family, teachers and school, partner organisations and clients, to ensure the ongoing cases.
Support to address the child protection risks during the case management.
Improve the contents of the CLR library by mapping local resources, collecting laws and regulations.
Support trainings and workshops about child labour, etc.
Mobilise resources, facilitate the exchange of information and children’s participation in schools, training and the local community.
Write CLR-related reports and maintain case management-related records in English throughout the case period.
Coordinate with the admin team for the case budget and expenditure.
3. Regularly update The Centre’s Malaysia factsheet and conduct ongoing research on children’s rights and related legal provisions.
4. Provide local logistic support for events and visits.
5. Support for business development, e.g. exploring cooperation opportunities with local social organisations and related service providers, supporting proposal development, etc.
6. Participate in identifying and connecting with relevant partners, including local governmental agencies, sectoral associations, international and national NGOs, government entities, educational institutions and commercial service providers and trainers, etc.
7. Participate and represent The Centre in events, conferences and meetings as decided in cooperation with the VP Services & Products (Asia).
8. Regular calls with The Centre’s colleagues in Malaysia, regular check-ins with VP Services & Products (Asia).
9. Requires travelling from time to time (mostly domestic).
10. Perform other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
University degree or higher in social science, business development or business management.
A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a similar role with international exposure is a MUST.
Experience in conducting social audits/assessments is strongly preferred.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; strong and proven skills as a trainer and facilitator are preferred.
Good command of both verbal and written English and Malay, knowledge in other South Asian languages a plus.
Strong research and analytical skills.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Highly trustworthy and capable of handling highly sensitive and confidential information.
Solid problem-solving and team management abilities.
Good computer skills, Microsoft Office etc.
