The role of the Project Manager Bangladesh is to support Country Manager Bangladesh with the expansion and growth of The Centre towards global and local brands in Bangladesh by maintaining local presence, assuring timely project implementation and reporting with quality, delivering & organising training, leading the research and assessment work, and networking with key stakeholders of The Centre.
This role is a full-time post and preferably based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
The position includes but is not limited to the following specific tasks:
1. Manage and implement projects in Bangladesh to guarantee the smooth implementation of the projects, including:
Prepare work plans and submit project-related reports for clients (e.g. progress reports, baseline/endline assessment reports, impact reports, etc.) and for The Centre internally (e.g. KPIs, project status updates).
Liaise with stakeholders in Bangladesh such as buyers (brands and retailers), supplying factories, plantations and refineries, external consultants or implementing partners or local collaborators, community-based organisations and community leaders, etc. to ensure quality and timely project execution.
Conduct and facilitate training/capacity building/workshop as required by the project.
Lead research work under the supervision and guidance of the Director of Service & Products Asia and/or Director of Research.
Build capacity and control the work quality of external consultants/implementing partners/local collaborators throughout the duration of projects.
Ensure regular reviews and adjustments are made based on operational matters to ensure optimum results. Bring all challenges to the attention of the Country Manager Bangladesh and, when necessary, the Director of Services and Products Asia in a timely manner and propose solutions and alternative strategies for achieving results.
Contribute to the creation and sharing of knowledge by summarising and documenting results, lessons learned and good practices from the implementation of the project.
2. Regularly update The Centre’s Bangladesh factsheet and continuous research on child rights and related legal provisions.
3. Provide local logistic support for events and visits.
4. Support for business development, e.g. exploring cooperation opportunities with local social organisations and related service providers, supporting proposal development, etc.
5. Participate in identifying and connecting with relevant partners, including local governmental agencies, sectoral associations, international and national NGOs, government entities, educational institutions and commercial service providers and trainers, etc.
6. Participate and represent The Centre in events, conferences, meetings as decided in cooperation with the Director of Services and Products Asia and Country Manager Bangladesh.
7. Regular calls with The Centre’s colleagues in Bangladesh, regular check-ins with Country Manager Bangladesh.
8. Requires travel from time to time (mostly domestic).
9. Perform other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
University degree or higher in social science, business development or business management.
A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a similar role with international exposure is a MUST.
Experience in conducting social audits/assessments is strongly preferred.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; strong and proven skills as a trainer and facilitator is preferred.
Good command of both verbal and written English and Bengali, knowledge in other South Asian languages a plus.
Strong research and analytical skills.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Highly trustworthy and capable of handling highly sensitive and confidential information.
Solid problem-solving and team management abilities.
Good computer skills, Microsoft office etc.
