As of June 2024, over 1,000 cases of child labour have been reported to The Centre. While this is not a cause for celebration, the journey to this point has provided valuable insights that we want to share through our new publication, "1000 Reports of Child Labour: Lessons, Insights, Reflections from our Child Labour Remediation Work."
Published on World Day Against Child Labour 2024, "1000 Reports of Child Labour" is an informative and practical resource for companies wishing to better understand the factors leading to child labour and those affecting remediation outcomes. We offer practical tips on how companies can accelerate progress in preventing child labour and implementing effective long-term remediation, based on our data and extensive experience in conducting rapid assessments and implementing remediation programmes in global supply chains.
We are also proud to debut new case stories from children who have benefited from our child labour remediation programmes, highlighting the different approaches deployed for diverse situations and contexts. Our publication includes a wealth of other practical resources, such as our newly updated Due Diligence Principles for Child Labour Prevention and Remediation, information about remediating child labour at scale in agriculture, and innovative programmes currently being implemented worldwide to create long-term systems to tackle child labour.
Child labour remediation is a complex but crucial endeavour. It provides a lifeline for children in dire situations and can transform the fate of entire families. Businesses have an obligation and responsibility to act, especially in light of human rights due diligence regulations. By sharing our learnings in this publication, we hope to inspire businesses to re-evaluate their current approach to child labour and understand the importance of taking action through a child rights lens.
While no single actor can tackle child labour alone, together, we can make a significant difference.
