Youtube Playlist: Replay of the "Co-Creating a Family-Friendly Tea Industry Conference"

For the second year, the "Co-Creating a Family-Friendly Tea Industry" conference brought together key stakeholders in the tea sector to discuss salient issues that continue to pose challenges in Sri Lanka, including fair wages, housing and land rights, and to collaboratively continue working towards positive change.

We were proud to showcase a series of videos that showed how members of the Mother and Child Friendly Seal for Responsible Business have already begun to make tangible differences for families and children, including piloting the first ever parent and child benefit initiative that gives families a monthly stipend towards education, nutrition and other child-related expenses, or training young women to become field supervisors - the first time in Sri Lanka’s tea industry’s history that women are given the opportunity to take up leadership positions.

Another highlight was the performance by the Seal initiative youth advisory group who represent the voice of tea plantations. Through a powerful, thought-provoking performance and hand-drawn posters, they highlighted challenges that they and their families encounter and potential ways to collaboratively take action to address these.

It was a day filled with constructive dialogue and we look forward to more tea stakeholders joining us on this journey towards a family-friendly tea industry. Watch the full conference and highlights from the breakout sessions via our YouTube channel or below.
