First WeCare Training Session for Fathers Rolled Out in Vietnam Supply Chain

The Centre recently conducted its first Parenting Training for Fathers (PTF) sessions under the WeCare Family-Friendly Workplaces programme, in collaboration with Under Armour and its suppliers. In February 2025, 70 working fathers at Ramatex Nam Dinh Co., Ltd. in Vietnam participated in interactive training designed to strengthen their role in parenting.

Historically, parenting trainings under WeCare – including Working Parent Training (WPT) and Advanced Parent Training (APT) – had low father participation, with fewer than 10% attending. Parenting Training for Fathers was introduced to specifically engage fathers to help them build stronger connections with their children. The sessions included group discussions, case studies, role-playing and action planning. Fathers openly shared their challenges in communicating with their children and gained new perspectives on their role beyond financial support.

Impact and Feedback:

  • 97% of participants agreed the training would improve their relationship with their children

  • 88% recognised that parenting is not solely a mother’s responsibility (up from 77% pre-training)

  • 92% acknowledged the need to adjust their parenting approach

Another father noted: “I’ve learned to be more patient with my daughter and talk to her about important topics like safety and emotions.”

The Parenting Training for Fathers aims to empower fathers by enhancing their communication skills, strengthening parent-child relationships and ensuring children receive emotional as well as material support. This year, the programme is being implemented in Vietnam and China, with potential expansion to other regions.
