Services to Identify and Address Child Labour

Child Labour Prevention Training

Child Labour Prevention Training

Our child labour prevention training equips buyers and suppliers with the tools and knowledge needed to cascade strong and effective child labour prevention measures down your supply chains, from managing subcontractors and labour agents to in-house age verification and young worker protection. The training can be customised for brand CEOs and representatives, sourcing staff, managers of factories and production sites, HR staff, auditors, production floor managers, community leaders and lower tier actors.

Child Labour Remediation

Child Labour Remediation

When we are notified of a suspected child labour case, we arrive on site within 72 hours to conduct the rapid assessment, speaking to all concerned parties directly (including the child, guardians and factory management). Tailored to the needs of the child, our child labour remediation programme covers all aspects of remediation from start to finish, incorporating elements including selecting schooling or appropriate vocational training, offering financial support where required, and monitoring the child’s development over time. We also work closely with employers on cases involving young workers in child labour situations (e.g. in hazardous work, or working excessive hours and night shifts) and support them in creating solutions to protect young workers and eliminate child labour situations. This includes but is not limited to identifying non-hazardous positions suitable for young workers, ensuring hazardous positions are off limits to young workers or rendering them non-hazardous where possible.

Developing Child Labour Prevention and Remediation Policies and Guidelines

Developing Child Labour Prevention and Remediation Policies and Guidelines

We undertake a comprehensive assessment of your current management systems, policies and practices covering child labour issues, including those covering child labour prevention and remediation, and develop customised guidelines in line with international standards and national laws, addressing issues from risk prevention, daily operations and monitoring to remediation processes for child labour. To date, our policy and guideline development has served companies and their supply chain actors, industry initiatives and overarching programmes of partners.

Child Labour Risk Assessments

Child Labour Risk Assessments

We conduct a risk assessment to identify child labour risks in supply chains, which allows our clients to understand where potential cases of child labour could be occurring. Findings are presented with practical recommendations for mitigating these risks. Our assessment is tailored to our client’s needs and can be conducted with a focus on child labour or in combination with other risks such as forced labour.

We had a child labour prevention policy in place for years and have been accepted by clients and CSR auditors. However, today we found out that our policy and procedures are rather basic, and we will need to improve it with higher preventive measures for child labour prevention.
