The Centre’s child labour rapid response service is available in all project countries and where we have a network of accredited service providers. Our rapid response service focuses on two dimensions: the concerned child and the business. It includes fast and reliable support to the child, the family and the factory, farm or production site and includes a comprehensive set of actions to assist companies with a child labour remediation process from start to finish.

OUR REMEDIATION CONSIDERS THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD AND INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING STEPS:

  • Assess the situation of the child within the context of the concerned production site; in most cases this take place on-site and within 72 hours of notification

  • Discuss solutions with parents, children and companies

  • Define possible remediation solutions such as vocational schools, or other training options, including a budget for enrolment and monthly living stipend

  • Define roles and responsibilities of brands, factory/production site managers/farm owners, children, parents, service providers and The Centre

  • Link support to third parties and local service providers

  • Provide support to the child, company and supplier throughout the remediation process

In cases involving young workers in child labour situations, such as hazardous work or excessive hours and night shifts, we collaborate with employers to develop solutions that safeguard young workers and eradicate child labour. We closely partner with employers, assisting them in identifying non-hazardous roles suitable for young workers, ensuring hazardous positions are inaccessible to them, or making them non-hazardous wherever feasible

CHILD LABOUR REMEDIATION REPORTS

Clients who sign an MOU with us to avail of our child labour remediation service receive monthly child labour remediation reports covering the duration of the remediation period. These reports:

  • Are issued to all companies who collaborate with The Centre on one or more child labour cases

  • Provide companies with feedback on how well the company handles remediation, with score and comments

  • Are confidential. Companies can request to add the report to The Centre's website and include it in their own reporting

  • The report covers a one year period

STATUS OF OUR CHILD LABOUR REMEDIATION OUTCOMES*

  • 67% of remediation plans have been accepted by all parties involved
