June 15 | The Mother and Child-Friendly Seal for Responsible Business to Launch in Sri Lanka

A collaborative initiative between The Centre for Child Rights and Business Sri Lanka, Save the Children and other key stakeholders called the “Mother and Child-Friendly Seal for Responsible Business” will officially launch at a hybrid event in Colombo and online on June 15, 2022.

The event will bring together key stakeholders and organisations in Sri Lanka’s tea industry to mark the launch of the initiative and to mobilise action and collaborations to support children and families in the tea supply chain.

The Mother and Child-Friendly Seal for Responsible Business aims to improve the wellbeing of women and children in Sri Lanka’s tea sector by encouraging business entities in the tea supply chain (buyers, brands, plantation companies and estates) to make sustainable and meaningful investments in wellbeing initiatives targeting children and women in tea communities.

The event will introduce the Seal initiative and speakers from The Centre for Child Rights and Business, and Save the Children will share the history and journey behind this initiative and why it is important for businesses to invest in children. Speakers from the tea industry will touch on their commitments and their vision in joining this initiative, followed by a Q&A session to answer any questions.

Confirmed speakers:

  • Mr. Bhathiya Bulumulla, Chairman, Planters Association of Ceylon

  • Mr. Julian Chellappah, National Director, Save the Children
