The Child Rights Action Hub Bangladesh (‘Action Hub’) is a multi-stakeholder initiative that addresses child labour at scale, with a particular focus on risks in the lower tiers of Bangladesh’s RMG sector. Now in its second year, the Action Hub enables collaborative action, bringing together brands, suppliers and local actors to jointly address child labour risks. Currently, eight major global brands are supporting the Action Hub in Bangladesh.

As part of this work, The Centre has been organising a series of youth club activities, with the most recent one held on August 13, 2025 in Dhaka. The Youth Club brings together children affected by child labour, young workers and their families to share experiences, strengthen knowledge and build motivation to stay in school and plan for safer futures. Participants in this session included ongoing and closed child labour cases from Action Hub factories, as well as cases from brand-affiliated suppliers.
Why Youth Clubs Matter
The Youth Club goes beyond immediate remediation. It helps children envision a future free from child labour, equips parents with practical parenting tools and reinforces community-wide awareness of education, child marriage, harassment and young workers’ rights.
Key outcomes from this session included:
Renewed commitment to education: Both children and parents agreed that education is non-negotiable. Parents pledged to be more engaged in their children’s studies and school progress.
Future aspirations and life goals: Children shared dreams of becoming teachers, engineers and police officers, while parents reflected on how they could support these ambitions.
Study skills and motivation: Children identified weaknesses – particularly in English – and learned practical techniques like flashcards, group study and daily vocabulary building.
Shifting views on child marriage: Open discussions helped parents and children recognise the long-term harm of early marriage and encouraged delaying marriage until education and maturity are achieved.
Parenting support: Parents learned effective communication techniques and ways to guide adolescents through challenges such as phone use, study motivation and relationships.
Rights awareness: Children gained knowledge on harassment, safe work and how to make informed career choices.
The sessions had a strong emotional impact, particularly when parents reflected on their own missed opportunities. As one father said:
“If I could study, I would be able to support my child's education.”
Through the Child Rights Action Hub, The Centre takes a holistic approach that goes beyond direct child support to also engage parents and raise wider community awareness. By equipping families with the knowledge, skills and motivation to value education and protect children, the Action Hub helps break cycles of child labour and builds the foundation for lasting, sustainable change.
