The Child Rights Action Hub is a multi-stakeholder initiative that addresses child labour at scale, with a particular focus on risks in lower tiers of Bangladesh’s RMG sector. The Hub facilitates collaborative action that allows brands to engage their supply chain partners and participate in joint activities to address child labour risks. Eight major global brands are currently supporting the Action Hub in Bangladesh.

WHY IS THERE A NEED FOR A CHILD RIGHTS ACTION HUB IN BANGLADESH?

  • Persistent child labour: Hundreds of cases in Bangladesh reported to The Centre; many involve children and young workers (under 18) exposed to hazardous work in lower-tier factories

  • Systemic issues: Low wages, opaque subcontracting and lack of decent youth opportunities drive child labour

  • Broader impact: Child labour affects education, safety and perpetuates poverty cycles

  • Challenges in scaling and optimising landscape approaches in Bangladesh

  • Limited impact from traditional initiatives, especially in informal / lower tiers

  • Nominate suppliers in your supply chain to be included in Hub activities (or you can request your direct suppliers or vendors to share details of lower-tier suppliers; The Centre will then approach these facilities and invite them to participate in Action Hub activities)
