Free Child Rights and Business Principles Training Underway in Vietnam – Opportunities for More Businesses to Join in 2022

The Centre for Child Rights and Business and the Center for Social Work - Community Development Research and Consultancy (SDRC) are organising a 3-week online training programme for 10 selected enterprises in Vietnam in collaboration with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and UNICEF Vietnam within the framework of the project “Promoting Children's Rights and Business Principles in Business (CRBP) in Vietnam”. The programme is specifically designed for three targeted industries: garment and footwear; travel & tourism; and information & communication technology (ICT).

The training programme aims to strengthen the knowledge, capacity and commitment of businesses that have high impacts on children. The programme focuses on three main themes:

• Theme 1: Child Labour Prevention and Remediation

• Theme 2: Young Worker Protection

• Theme 3: Skill Development for Young Workers

The first training session in a series of 11 online training sessions was successfully implemented on October 18, 2021 with the participation of representatives from VCCI, UNICEF Vietnam, the trainers from The Centre for Child Rights and Business and SDRC along with some representatives of business leaders and 20 participants from 10 enterprises of the three targeted industries. Participating enterprises committed to participate in all three topics and will develop action plans after being trained.

This training programme is completely free of charge for participating enterprises and is expected to last until the end of November 5, 2021.

The CRBP project is also planning to organise more similar programmes in 2022 in order to scale up the impacts of the training programme to more enterprises.
